UC San Diego to power supercomputer with Intel Habana Labs chips
Intel's Habana Labs will supply its AI chips to UC San Diego's supercomputer programme. The university's supercomputer aims to advance AI research across a number of domains. "Voyager" will use Habana’s interconnectivity technology to efficiently scale AI capacity. Intel bought Habana for $2bn in 2019 and went on to ditch its own Nervana neutral network programme in the wake of the acquisition.
