12 EU states block tax avoidance directive
Twelve EU states have blocked a planed directive to expose some of the world's largest companies. The new rule would have forced multinationals to reveal how much profit they were making, as well as the tax they paid in each of the 28 states. Companies such as Apple, Facebook and Google avoid paying around $500 billion a year in taxes by moving their profits to zero-tax or low-tax jurisdictions.
