Apple ditches Intel to focus on developing its own chips for Macs
Apple has confirmed that it is to start developing its own silicon chips for its Mac range of computers, ending a long-term agreement with Intel. The announcement was made at its WWDC event, with the process to take around two year to complete. The chips have deep integration with macOS Big Sur and will also mean that iPhone and iPad apps will be able to run natively on Apple silicon Macs.
