F5 to pay $500m for "edge-as-a-service" platform Volterra
F5 Networks is to acquire Volterra for $500m. Volterra, which only launched in 2019, offers a cloud management platform which gives a single view of security and operations. F5, which secures applications when they're migrated to the cloud, says the deal gives it an edge platform with "unlimited scale". "Current edge solutions are simply inadequate for today’s enterprise customers," said its CEO.
