FCC designates Huawei and ZTE as national security threats
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has officially designated Chinese firms Huawei and ZTE as "national security threats". The move means that telecoms operators in the U.S. are not permitted to use state funds to purchase or maintain any Huawei or ZTE kit. FCC chairman Ajit Pai said that there was "overwhelming" evidence of the two vendors' threat to the U.S. and its 5G network.
