Ireland sends Facebook a warning over U.S. data transfers
Ireland's Data Protection Commission (DPC) has told Facebook it could be fined if it doesn't alter its data transfer practices. Regulators have found that the transfer of data from Europe to the United States could leave users vulnerable to U.S. government surveillance. Facebook could be fined up to 4% of its global revenues. The social media giant has until the end of September to respond.
