Japan to invest $5.2bn to boost chip manufacturers
Japan has set aside 600 billion yen ($5.2bn) of its fiscal 2021 supplementary budget to support chip manufacturers, according to Nikkei. The report says 400 billion yen ($3.48bn) in a new factory set up by TSMC. The remaining 200 billion yen ($1.74bn) will go toward setting up other new factories, with projects under consideration including Micron Technology and Kioxia Holdings, the report said.
