UK watchdog to put Facebook's Giphy deal under microscope
The UK's antitrust watchdog, the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), is launching a probe into Facebook's acquisition of Giphy. Specifically, it will consider whether the deal may be expected to result in a substantial lessening of competition within any market or markets in the United Kingdom for goods or services. Axios reported that Facebook paid around $400 million for Giphy.
