Worldline agrees deal to buy Ingenico for $8.6 billion, creating payments giant
The global payments giant Worldline has agreed a deal worth $8.6 billion to acquire point-of-sale terminal provider Ingenico. The deal will have to be signed off by regulators, but if passed it would create Europe's largest payments company, and the fourth largest in the world. The companies said the sale would help Ingenico achieve savings of $250 million a year by 2024.
